ABOUT THIS PROGRAM
This presentation will highlight the role of psychoanalytic play therapy in the treatment of ASD. The presentation will focus on the impact of early trauma on the development of the self, associated anxieties and defenses used; demonstrate the transition from predominant use of autistic defenses and changes in internal self and object representation through the use of play therapy.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Participants will:
- Understand manifestation and use of autistic defenses.
- The role of psychoanalytic psychotherapy in the treatment of autism.
